What is Spired.com?
Spired.com is a youth web project based in Oxfordshire. It is run by Oxfordshire Youth Support Services and aimed at young people aged 13-19, as well as adults who work with local young people.
Spired.com includes the Oxfordshire Connexions website.
Oxfordshire Youth Support Services
Oxfordshire Youth Support Services provide services to young people aged 13-19, and up to 25 for some vulnerable young people including those with learning disabilities. These include:
- Youth centres with regular events, club nights and meetings
- More support through services like mentoring or counselling
- Ways for young people to get involved in their local community and decision-making
- Information, advice and guidance through services like Connexions
- Information resources like this website and the Survival Guide for Young People
- Positive Activities like arts and sports sessions

Spired.com's history
Spired.com was set up in 2000-2001. It was designed and specified by a group of local workers and young people, with input from a web design firm. It was conceived as a youth participation and information site for young people living in Oxfordshire, and named by local young people. Initially it was funded and managed by the Oxfordshire Youth Service, with support and input from Oxfordshire County Council's Chief Executive's Office Democratic Services Team and the Save the Children Children's Rights Development Team.
