Why does Connexions need to keep data about me?

Connexions provides free and confidential advice, guidance and personal development services to all 13-19 year olds in England, and up to age 24 for young people with special needs.

In order to give you the most suitable support, Connexions Oxfordshire needs to be able to access and keep information about you.

Is my data secure?

To help you and your PA we keep a range of relevant information about you, mainly on an electronic database. Your data can only be seen and used by Connexions PAs and other Connexions staff, unless you have given permission for other people or other agencies to see and use it.

Any information we keep about you is confidential unless:

Connexions will keep your data until you are 23 years old, or until you are 28, if you have special needs.

How can I access my data?

Under the Data Protection Act, 1998 you have the right to a copy of any records that we hold about you.

In accordance with the Data Protection Act, on receipt of your written application, Connexions will provide you with a copy of your records within 40 days of your request.
