How we can help you
Connexions is the main agency
working to support young people into work, apprenticeship and training in
Oxfordshire. We provide information and support, and also advertise vacancies directly to young people.
We can help your organisation successfully
recruit and retain your young staff, through our opportunities team.
Latest news: apprenticeships
Did you know that if your company takes on an apprentice before March 2010, you may be eligible for a grant of £2,500?
The National Apprenticeship Service
is providing up to 5,000 Apprenticeship
Grants for Employers of 16 and
17 year olds to encourage employers to take on unemployed
16-17 year olds as apprentices. These grants are available for new apprenticeship roles, whether or not the company already offers apprenticeships. Find out more:
How to advertise a vacancy through Connexions
Advertising a job vacancy or
opportunity with us is easy:
Have a few basic details ready, and remember to include your full contact details. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
We will always ask that you
confirm that you have employers’ liability insurance and that
minimum health and safety
standards are in place. We will
then enter your opportunity
into our database and advertise it to young jobseekers across Oxfordshire.

Advice for recruiting young people
Interested in recruiting young people? The Connexions Oxfordshire
Opportunities Team can help you get in touch with the young people your organisation needs, through offering advice:
- If you want to recruit a school or college leaver, it’s all about timing. Tell
us about your vacancies now so school and college leavers can apply
before they start preparing for exams.
- Are you asking the right questions? You may need to adapt your
recruitment process to take into account the experience of your
candidates.
- What qualifications does your
vacancy need? Are you up to date with all of the latest qualifications?
- Offering the right training will make your vacancy more attractive. It will
improve your workforce by raising skills levels and help to motivate and retain staff.
- Apprenticeships are government-funded work-based training
programmes. They give you the chance to develop the skilled staff you
need for your business.
- Are you aware of the employment legislation and health & safety rules that affect young employees? We can provide you with information and
point you in the right direction
to find out more.
