The Integrated Youth Support Services offer a full programme of training running around the year. In addition, they can help you find training in specific areas, or offer advice about training, courses, funding for training and more.
Please bear in mind that training dates may change, and that other training may be available. Talk to your manager or email iyss.servicesupport@oxfordshire.gov.uk. Please note there are other training opportunities further down the page.
To attend any of the courses, please talk to your manager. If you agree that you should have the training, you will need to fill in an IYSS training application form or Oxfordshire Connexions training application form as applicable, and return to the Service Support Unit.

Safeguarding training now sits with the County Council under the Oxfordshire Safeguarding Children’s Board (OSCB). Course description and training has been updated and are available to book online.
Three levels are available: Safeguarding Introduction (A) is suitable for staff who have minimal contact with young people or who do not work directly with them. e.g. General Administrators, Safeguarding Generalist (B) for staff who work with young people more than 3 days per month on average, and Safeguarding Specialist, for Staff who have a designed lead responsibility within their organisation, manage services or co-ordinate referrals.
Refresher training should be accessed every two years, so if you haven’t been on any in the last couple of years, you should book on to a course and drop me an e-mail once your course date has been confirmed for our records.

Please discuss attending this training with your line manager in the first instance and copy the service support unit (iyss.servicesupport@oxfordshire.gov.uk) into your booking, so we can maintain training data.
All Youth Services and Connexions staff must undergo Profile Training so that we can properly record our work with young people.
All YSS staff welcome, but all new PAs must attend these courses (along with a Profile training session) as part of their induction training.
If you are interested in studying, the Ruskin College in Oxford offers degree courses in Social Work, Youth Work and Community Work. There is information about funding on their website.

The Oxford Co-operative Training Scheme offer training on a veriety of subjects including, working with self harming clients, with offenders, with drug users, basic counselling skills and more.
Discuss with your line manager if you feel any of their courses would benefit your continuing professional development, contact Staff Development to discuss funding.
