This activity was developed by The Wood Farm Crew with worker Simon Edmondson.
A Powerpoint presentation raising various personal safety issues for discussion in a group. Designed to be delivered by young people to other youth groups.
Note: This project was funded by Here to Help.
For this project on personal/street safety, which we called Street Smart, Street Safe, we looked at how the media uses young peoples 'street' culture to sell things, by watching music videos and films like Bulletboy. Then we designed flyers and posters aimed at getting across the need for young people to be aware of personal safety. We also designed a Powerpoint presentation on the issue which young people from the group delivered at local youth clubs. After all this we went away on a weekend residential where we did adventure activities (high-ropes course and mountain boarding) and evaluated the project.
