World AIDS day 2007

LOts of different ways to wear your AIDS ribbonOver thirty million people are living with HIV throughout the world - and that number increases in every region every day. In the UK alone, more than 60,000 people are living with HIV and more than 7,000 more are diagnosed every year. Ignorance and prejudice are fuelling the spread of a preventable disease.

World AIDS Day, 1 December is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV and AIDS. This year, it's up to you, me and us to get everyone talking about HIV and AIDS.

In the UK, AIDS as an issue that is hitting young people hardest of all. The number of people aged 16-24 being treated for AIDS almost tripled between 1996 and 2005. Srill don't think it has aything to do with you? Think again:

TThe World AIDS Day website is a great place to start. You can order fundraising and education packs, find out key facts, and discover more about the history of World AIDS Day.

The Terrence Higgins Trust has a good section on World AIDS Day, including plenty of suggestions for activities around AIDS and safer sex.
