some badges made out of the slogans thought up by Vale Youth
Forum members

For the biggest event in the Graffiti Participation project, Aimee
visited Vale Youth Forum, where young people come from all over
the Vale of the White Horse District to talk to Councillors and
other decision-makers about what young people really want.
There were 58 young people attending, so making badges wasn't practical!
Instead we went for a presentation with audience participation.
|
 |
People
wrote down slogans while watching the presentation. Some gave
sensible advice.... |
The presentation was about Spired.com, and Aimee started by showing
off the site with a quick tour. The site was projected onto the
wall with a data-projector so that everyone could see.
As she showed them round the Participation Project pages, she asked
what slogans they would put on a badge or tell someone about, and
invited them to write them out on paper provided.

...
while other dealt with broader issues
like war, vandalism, racism, smoking, animal rights and more. |
At the end of the activity, one slogan was read out by each table;
but that wasn't the last they'd see of their slogans!
You can see some of them on this page, and we also made some into
virtual badges later. But right there and then, while the next activity
was starting up, Aimee was uploading all the slogans to Spired.com,
posting them onto a chat board called the Graffiti
Project Wall.
|
 |
Aimee
added the slogans while the young people watched. |
The data projector was still running so people could see their
slogans as they were added, projected onto the wall.
All in all, forty different slogans were added to the wall, about
all sorts of topics including animal cruelty, war, vandalism, religion
and more.
See some made into badges, and others put onto a graffiti wall, here and here. |
