The Theatre Chipping Norton has a busy programme of interesting workshops for young people, with topics ranging from the usual suspects (drama, dance) to the bizarre and unexpected (time, origami). Look out for events for yopung people aged 13-18, costs and more details on the theatre's website.

14|22 at the Oxford Playhouse lets young people (aged 14-22, of course!) gain an insight into how great theatre gets onto the stage. Key creative people, e.g. directors, writers and actors explore different elements of how a play was made, and give an insight into the ways in which creative people work. THEATRE AND ARTS

Watching the chinese lanterns at Banbury Youth Centre Oxfordshire is well-known for large and impressive theatres like the famous Oxford Playhouse, spectacular outdoor performances from students or site-specific groups like Creation, and large arts festivals like Glyndebourne Opera. Less well know are excellent arts centres like The Mill in Banbury, or fascinating Youth and Community Theatres like the Pegasus, where you can sometimes see comedians warming their act for the Edinburgh Fringe. There are also dedicated youth theatre groups, several theatre school, a plethora of pantomimes and events like the OxFringe for aspiring comedians and actors to cut their teeth on. Unicorn Theatre, Abingdon website

Tiny theatre in the historic Abbey buildings, host to around a dozen shows a year from local companies, local drama groups, etc.

The Mill Arts Centre, Banbury website

The Mill combines community centre, theatre, a gallery, regular plays and music events, clubs and more, on Banbury's canal side. Many workshops, including ones for young people aged 13 plus, including dance, theatre, drumming and jazz.
